Yo infocomm! :D IM BACK.

your End Of Year Examinations are over (well, most of you guys started later than us and ended earlier than us!!!!!!) and its back to CCA mwhahahahaha.^^. No, I am not going to rant here, but im going to share some interesting and hilarious pictures ive taken today.

Sad to say, my success rate ( no. of nice&acceptable pictures/no. of rubbish pictures which deserve to go to the bin X 100%) is surprisingly low today, so there are very few nice pictures that i can share with you guys today.

So here they are… (NOTE: I upload my pics cause i want you guys to determine yourselves which are nice and which are not. what kind of standard you guys should be aiming for!? obviously a standard better than me. surpass surpasss~.definitely better than this set of pictures cause this set is really T______T Cannot Make It.)

85mm F5.6 – Before e Start of Captain’s Ball match Infocomm VS I-dont-know
(Why F5.6? I think I have not mentioned this before, a smaller aperture has a larger DOF right? So theres a larger “area” for you to focus in <note: I use Manual Focus>. So your focusing will be fast enough for sports – in this case. If you dont understand, you can ask me :D )

_DSC7063

85mm F5.6 – Start of Match

_DSC7066

85mm F5.6
(To be honest, im not really good in taking sports T_T. its very diff to decide between smaller aperture or bigger. cause you need a fast shutter speed, yet you need a bigger focusing area for you to focus easily. And for sports photography, you need to be fast! Once you miss the action, you missed it forever. )

Aiya, the defender got the ball. *Sigh*

Shareen look so pek cek :X.

_DSC7089

(WARNING: This picture is supposedly a picture which belongs to the Dustbin but hahahaha all of them are doing the same action :P !!! so cute:X)

Why is that pic blur? Shot at 1/30s. Apert Priority. Handshake + People’s fast movements + Slow Shutter Speed made it blur.

Overall Picture:

Like a line of symmetry in the middle >> Photography Theories. But slightly slanted T_T, will edit later.

Anyway, this is just a rough idea of how to take sports. well, im not really good at it myself so i cant say much but do take this as a “guide” yeah.

Oh, to those who put in their best for Captain’s ball, dont be too sad :) , its just MINI OLYMPICS, nothing big :D . We’re not sports players or anything so I hope you guys had fun ^^. If you guys want to really go for it, Year 2010 will be your chance :D .

Ive got some examples of StoryBoarding for Video Division, which may be useful for Video planning – esp SDMA.

Alot of you may already be wondering why theres a post about the Sigma DP1 when sheen already has her fantastic Nikon D3.

Ok first of all, I always mention Point & Shoot (P&S) cams has alot of limitations and blah blah blah. BUT, what happens when you put a DSLR sensor into a P&S camera? Then this is another story altogether.

And yes, just yesterday, i somehow downgraded from a Nikon D3 to a mere  camera called the Sigma DP1, you might say.

Heres the DP1 i am talking about now.

Looks totally like a P&S CAMERA!@ But dont underestimate it yet.

The main advantage of the DP1 is that, it has a larger sensor area that is close to the DSLR’s. P&S cameras usually have a 1/1.8″ sensors, which is far from the size of DSLR sensors.

“DSLR sensor squeezed into a compact body”.
“allow the DP1 to deliver DSLR image quality while avoiding the noise issues which increasingly plague modern compacts” < this is due to the size of the DP1’s sensor being very close to the DSLR.

But also, due to this main advantage of the DP1, it will be quite crazy to fit a zoom lens on top of the body, as well as to have the lens aperture size as big as F2. Thus the DP1 only has a focal length of equiv 28mm in 35mm format prime F4-F11.

I went to Fort Canning Park to have a shot of it yesterday, when I accompanied my brother for a commercial shoot. the DP1 is slow. seriously. the focusing is not fast, because it is able to shoot in RAW format, and has a sensor close to a DSLR’s, so i cant blame much. DepthOfField not say really shallow also… But after i came back and looked through my photos, i realised the sharpness of the pictures were even better than my D3 D:!!!!! But somehow the white balance was quite ‘off’ though. But the most important thing is that, well, it is compact, convenient and MUCH LIGHTER THAN MY D3, so i think its relatively fine.

And heres a sample picture (@Fort Canning Park):
SDIM0222

F11, 1/640s, ISO 100

Its not that bad. right? haha.

Well, we will never know soon enough, maybe the camera industry may come up with a Compact DSLR for all we know. But do note that, even though most of you may not have a DSLR, you still can take great pics like the one above with a point and shoot camera like the DP1 :D .

ah sry for the rushed post. …and no, i have not started my revision for EOYs yet^^. but i guess the DP1 can be quite amazing. if anyone of you were to drop by at any camera shop and would want to buy a compact camera, do buy a P&S with a DSLR sensor:D!

Hi Everyone! Just a rundown of what’s been happening and what’s in store for us this week.

Firstly, congratulations to Kelly, Joo Hwee, Perlyn and Jolene for coming in the Top 10 of the NEMation competition. Do your best in the final round, we’re all rooting for you guys! For the rest who came in Top 20 and Top 40, I’m proud of what you guys accomplished. Hope that it was a great experience and that you all learnt a lot in that one week.

Secondly, for those who participated in the NCS algorithm and IT Quiz competition, although we didn’t get into the finals, the key idea here was for you guys to get exposure to these types of competitions. Now that you’ve gone through the experience, let’s build on it and work for better next year. You all did well in very trying circumstances and I wish I could have done more to better prepare you guys.

Lastly, this will be the last week of CCA before the exams start. Right now, the priority for everyone is to hunker down and go full steam ahead with revision for the end of year exams. Do your best ‘kay and never give up. I have the utmost faith in all of you to at least try to give it your best shot. Members at all levels, do help each other out and form study groups if you can; especially the Sec 2s who have streaming this year. Let’s make this our best year so far in academic pursuits afterwhich we’ll do a review of what’s happened this year and the things that we can do better.

Do take care and always keep sane.

Cheers!
Mr Hamdan

Untitled-1

Hah, bet you wanted to click on the picture above and see your beautiful faces! But dream on, not yet. :p

Let me share my views first.

Hmm, theres a slight distortion (at the sides) due to wide angle lens 20mm. Its always the case, but at times it gives a nice feel though. Sigh, seriously need to buck up my ‘group photo’ skills (and setting up the tripodT_T).

But anyway, photos will be uploaded to flickr!!!!

soon.

hmm, i think next time should have smth like the ‘class photo’ style (3 levels thing…i dont know how to describe -.-). if not, like the pic above, its so wide, just nice.. yet faces are so small….sigh.

sheen. – but its a nice picture anyway :D .
